Poem a Day: 14

Standard

In Good Faith

She kept his good suits
for him, collected his mail.
She kept a place set at the table
for him,
knowing he would go home to another
woman.
She built a household around negative space,
too faithful
to set down the weight of
waiting,
too stubborn
to stop hoping
